One Root, Many Branches fall Concert

REVA & DAVID LOGAN CENTER FOR THE ARTS
915 E. 60th STREET

Ormb 583x418

The production 'One Root, Many Branches,' is an evening of work that explores the connectedness of the dance and music of people of African descent in Jamaica, Brazil and the United States from the perspective of their common ancestral root. The performance includes the world premiere by internationally renowned choreographer Christopher Walker. Entitled 'MANIFEST,' the work is a conversation between contemporary expressions and traditional practices. The work affirms a space where contemporary expressions appear as manifestations of deep African traditional movement practices that continue to inform the physical relationship to space and time in the contemporary present and the imagined future.
